11-3-21   THOUGHTS

The Christian ought to read the first two chapters of Ephesians and Colossians frequently.  Both are big picture views of God’s working to save man.  The place of Christ is clearly presented.  Below, our believing the message of the good news of Christ,  leads us to being sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise.  It’s called the “riches of His grace”.  We are called “God’s own possession.”  Rom 8:17 says we are “fellow heirs with Christ.”  Of the word “Abba”, “It expressed the peculiar tenderness, familiarity, and confidence of the love between parent and child, [Amtract Dictionary].   May this powerful reading be a blessing to us this day.

Eph 1:3-14     Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4  just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.  In love 5  He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, 6  to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7  In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8  which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight 9  He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10  with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him  11  also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, 12  to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. 13  In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation — having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14  who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.

Rom 8:15-17    For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"  The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17  and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
Gal 4:4-7    But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,  5  so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.  6  Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"  7  Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.

My Prayer:
To you O God be the glory for the great things you have done.  In the tenderest of ways, you have adopted us as sons and daughters and given us of your Spirit. Help us overcome, that we may receive the promised inheritance.  Accept our praise and our love O God.  May we know your presence with each breath.    In the name of our Savior      Amen
